The Office of English Language Programs in Washington, D.C. provides academic expertise, advisory and consultative assistance, as well as materials and resources worldwide. All programs are implemented by Regional English Language Officers (RELOs) at American Embassies or Consulates.

English Language Fellows, Specialists, and Virtual Educators are American experts in the field of English teaching, who lead in-person or online English language projects at institutions around the world.  Through collaboration with educators, industry leaders, and institutions, these programs share American expertise, expand opportunity, and advance shared interests.

OPEN provides free online courses, high‑quality teaching resources, and virtual learning opportunities for English-language educators, professionals, and learners worldwide. Through engaging MOOCs, live webinars, practical classroom materials, and a global community of practice, OPEN shares American expertise in English language teaching to support workforce readiness around the world.

The English Access Scholarship Program (Access) provides American English language instruction, educational seminars, alumni programs, resources, and U.S. exchange opportunities for students and educators in more than 80 countries. Access helps participants build English skills, expand educational and professional opportunities, and connect with U.S. culture and educational expertise. Since 2004, Access has reached approximately 200,000 students and 20,000 teachers worldwide.
